The Board of County Commissioners on Aug. 5 approved a three‑year amendment to Polk County's master purchase agreement with Motorola Solutions to continue maintenance and equipment purchases supporting the county's public‑safety communications systems.
Presenting the item, county staff said the proposed amendment (Amendment No. 5) would cover the public safety radio system, fire‑rescue paging, the mutual‑aid radio system, the microwave network and related cybersecurity services for a total not‑to‑exceed $4,707,440 covering Oct. 1, 2025 through Sept. 30, 2028. The staff memo included invoicing caps: Year 1 not to exceed $1,402,797; Year 2 not to exceed $1,563,414; Year 3 not to exceed $1,741,229.
"I would request that the board approve the proposed 5th amendment to the existing master purchase agreement number 15Dash09 with Motorola Solutions Incorporated to reflect a 3 year term and a total services cost not to exceed $4,707,440," the manager's office said during its presentation.
Commissioner Trautman moved approval; the board voted in favor ('Aye'; 'Motion carries'). Staff said funding is budgeted in the radio communications fund for FY25‑26 and will be included in subsequent fiscal years to cover the term of the agreement.
Clarifying details: the amendment is an extension/renewal for maintenance and equipment purchases tied to Polk's public‑safety communications systems; staff provided line‑item invoicing caps by year. The board approved the amendment at the meeting; staff will administer the contract under existing procurement and budget authority.
