John Morstead, the district’s executive director of finance and operations, presented renderings and bid‑award requests for a new two‑story elementary in northwest Maple Grove and renovation work at Oakview, Woodland, Rush Creek and Basswood elementaries, plus a maintenance addition at the educational service center. Morstead said the new school will be about 139,000 square feet and designed to hold roughly 1,100 preK–5 students, with features including learning studios, outdoor classrooms and flexible maker spaces.
Morstead said the projects covered by the bids are "on budget" so far and described a district‑wide furniture package: "the total furniture, package is in the kind of mid $20,000,000 range," which will be phased across schools. He also said construction bid approvals were included in the consent agenda, which the board approved 6‑0. Outdoor classrooms and adaptable learning studios are included across elementary projects as part of the Build a Better Future process.
