Board recognizes students, coaches and staff with awards and honors
Summary
Trustees honored students, coaches and staff, including district spelling bee winner Elena Porter, several All-State athletes, Coach Kristen Bachelor (Region 1A Coach of the Year), and Crystal Apple award recipients Dr. Andre Dukes, Rebecca Turner, Alicia Hollis and Althea Coco Shippey.
The board opened the meeting with a series of recognitions celebrating student and staff achievements. District spelling bee winner Elena Porter of Blackstar Middle School and multiple All-State athletes from Gaffney High were acknowledged; Coach Kristen Bachelor was recognized as Region 1A Coach of the Year with a prepared commendation read on behalf of Coach Phil Hatkin.
The board also presented Crystal Apple Awards: Dr. Andre Dukes received the administrator award for instructional leadership; Rebecca Turner was honored among certified staff for excellence in teaching; Alicia Hollis received the substitute award for service at Gaffney Middle School; and Althea Coco Shippey received the classified staff award for facility support at Northwest Elementary. Trustees and attendees offered congratulations.
