Board authorizes superintendent to negotiate transfer of Mary Bramblett School to Gaffney
Summary
Trustees authorized the superintendent, in consultation with legal counsel, to negotiate and execute agreements to transfer or gift the Mary Bramblett School property to the city of Gaffney, with reversion to the district if the city stops using the site.
The maintenance, property and grounds committee recommended that the superintendent be authorized to negotiate and execute any agreements required for transfer or gifting of the Mary Bramblett School property to the city of Gaffney. Dr. Fitzpatrick told trustees the city administrator requested the property and staff have met with city representatives; legal counsel is working to ensure the transfer follows appropriate legal procedures.
Trustees asked whether the request existed in formal written form or was the product of committee discussions. Trustees were told the city administrator requested the property and a committee has been working with the city; the district attorney will prepare required documents and ensure a reversion clause so the property reverts to the district if the city no longer uses it. The board approved the recommendation and directed staff to continue coordination with the city and counsel.
