Board asks superintendent to review KL and KL-AR, seeks monthly student presentations

The Klamath County School District Board of Directors asked Superintendent Melissa Cole on July 14 to review and possibly revise governance policies KL and KL-AR to align board practice with its expectations. Board Chair Brooke Kliewer made the request during a work session that began at 1:05 PM and reconvened several times as members arrived.
Board members also expressed a desire to increase student visibility in regular meetings, saying the board "would like to have student presentations/recognition monthly at regular meetings," and discussed adding a student representative to the board. The board reviewed current and suggested versions of governance policy and discussed what makes an effective school board; members provided feedback on revisions and implementation.
The board paused briefly at 1:11 PM to allow two members to arrive and resumed substantive policy review after reconvening. The board directed Superintendent Cole to review KL and KL-AR and return recommendations; no formal motion or vote was recorded in the minutes.
