Corvallis School District pilots department "scorecard" presentations to board to increase transparency

Superintendent Ryan Noss told the Corvallis School District Board on Jan. 22 that the district invited department leaders to meet with the Board to discuss goals, aligned actions, and progress in a scorecard format designed to increase transparency and alignment across the district.
"While the District has traditionally provided opportunities for school leaders to meet with the Board to discuss school improvement work, this is the first time district departments have been invited to share their goals, aligned actions, and progress," Noss said in the meeting minutes. He described the format as a way to connect Board goals, superintendent evaluation, departmental work, and school improvement efforts and to provide informal engagement between the Board and district leadership.
The minutes list five areas of departmental presentations: Business Services; Communications; Human Resources; Operations; and Student Growth & Experience. Presenters and Board members rotated among stations; the minutes note supporting documents are posted online and will be archived with the official 2025–26 board records. Board members later reflected that the format allowed deeper, small-group conversations and greater understanding of departmental priorities.
No formal action or vote was recorded on the scorecard presentations during the special meeting. Board members expressed support for continuing the format in future sessions but the minutes do not record a motion or schedule for follow-up.
