Students report athletic wins, upcoming blood drive and YEA! grant-funded events

Student representatives from Corvallis School District 509J highlighted recent extracurricular successes and upcoming events at the Feb. 19 special board meeting. Jack Martin (CHHS), Ayeh Akhavan-Heidari (CHS) and Laura Chen (CVHS) reported that CV swim teams placed second at the league meet and that the district's teams placed first and second at districts ahead of the state championships. They said CHS raised $1,000 during a Polar Plunge fundraiser and that a student-led blood drive is scheduled for March 5.
Representatives also described a Lunar New Year celebration funded by a Youth Empowerment and Action (YEA!) Grant and noted that CHHS added experimental design and driver education courses. The CHHS yearbook program received YEA! funding to provide yearbooks for all CHHS students, according to the meeting packet posted online.
