Superintendent reports enrollment steady at 1,548; facilities repairs underway

He reported the district’s enrollment at 1,548 students, a figure he said aligns with the district budget for the year. He also briefed the board on facilities work: custodial and maintenance staff are stocking ice melt, repairing fence and bleacher damage after an accident at the Grove complex, and several lead custodians (including Craig Gaines) will attend an HVAC maintenance class in Spokane in November.
Mr. Duff noted that the 2025 Oregon School Boards Association Annual Convention will be held Nov. 6–8 at the Marriott Downtown Waterfront Hotel in Portland and that several board members plan to attend. He also warned that a federal government shutdown had not yet disrupted district funding but could cause problems with federally funded grants if prolonged; no formal board action was taken on that concern.
