District reports strong summer participation and literacy gains in targeted programs

The literacy tutoring program hosted through the YMCA signed up 78 students, the presenter said, with 73 attending. Staff reported pre/post data for 55 participants and described an average improvement of 87% on the assessed measure: "Of those 55, 87% may grow over the summer," the presenter said. Trustees and staff discussed attendance patterns late in programs and possible adjustments for next year, including ending earlier to secure post-assessments and considering minimum participation thresholds.
