The Royse City ISD Board of Trustees recognized two Royce City High School students for statewide music honors during its regular meeting.
Jason Webb, director of bands, introduced senior euphonium player Noah Phillip and said Noah earned the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble outstanding performer award — an honor Webb described as "equivalent to a state championship" and noted Noah is only the second Royce City band student to receive it. Nathan White, director of choir activities, and presenters also highlighted Zayden Smith's selection as an outstanding performer and his TMEA All-State selection.
The district celebrated the students' achievements as examples of sustained fine-arts commitment. "Please join me in congratulating Noah on his historic achievement," Webb said during the recognition.
The board and superintendent thanked fine-arts staff and families for their support and noted the awards reflect both student effort and long-term program investment. Trustees emphasized community pride and the role of summer camps and continued faculty development in preparing students for statewide competitions.
The recognition was presented near the start of the meeting during the student-recognition segment, and trustees offered formal congratulations before proceeding to business.
