Richardson ISD board approves consent agenda, accepts $51,855 in gifts and adopts 2025 PI A nonbusiness days

The Richardson ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved routine business items and accepted district gifts during its Dec. 12 meeting.
Board President Chris Boteet called for a motion on the consent agenda; Trustee Timmy moved the motion and Trustee Eager seconded. "Hearing none, all in favor," Boteet announced before recording that "the motion passes 5 to 0." The board then voted unanimously to accept a set of gifts totaling $51,855.38, which included $10,000 from Moss Haven Elementary PTA; $15,000 from Wish for Wheels for Northridge Elementary; and $7,900 from Prestonwood Elementary, plus eleven smaller gifts totaling $18,955.38. Superintendent Branham presented the gifts and asked the board to approve them as submitted.
On a separate motion, trustees approved the district's 2025 Public Information Act designated nonbusiness days calendar, a statutory step required after 2023 legislative changes that alter how business days are counted for public-information requests. Leticia McGowan, the district's legal counsel, described how nonbusiness days are identified and why the calendar matters for response timelines. The vote on that action was recorded as 5-0.
The board took all of these votes in open session. No motions to pull items from the consent agenda were raised.
