Following the budget votes, a commissioner thanked budget and division staff for six months of work on the FY25–26 budget and publicly recognized long‑time county employee Gay (Gaye) Sharp, who will retire at the end of October after more than 30 years with the county.
The commissioner said the board and staff had "gone through a lot of things over the last 6 months" and praised Sharp's years of service, telling her, "job well done" and wishing her well in retirement. The chair and other commissioners joined in thanking staff before adjourning the hearing.
The remarks were brief and celebratory and were recorded immediately after the final budget adoption.
