Board recognizes classified staff, celebrates Read Across America; superintendent reports scholarships and college visits

The board recognized March 2–6 as Classified Staff Appreciation Week and thanked classified employees for their work across district schools. Chair Beth Harrison told the board that classified staff are “the face of the schools and cheerleaders for the students.” The minutes also highlight Read Across America activities at elementary schools and a Sunridge Middle School production of Peter Pan.
Superintendent Michelle Jensen reported that fifth graders visited Blue Mountain Community College in February for early college exposure and that two Pendleton High School students were awarded full-ride scholarships to Whitman College. Pendleton FFA students attended the Oregon FFA Legislative Conference and met with state leaders while at the Oregon State Capitol.
