YME board adopts resolutions nonrenewing multiple Tier 1 teachers, directs administration to recommend reductions

The Yellow Medicine East ISD #2190 Board of Education voted on Feb. 9 to adopt a resolution directing district administration to make recommendations for reductions in programs and positions and the reasons for those recommendations. "Motion by Matt Zempel, second by Ron Winter, and carried unanimously by roll call vote, to adopt the resolution directing the administration to make recommendations for reductions in programs and positions and reasons therefore," the minutes record.

The board also approved several personnel actions. It adopted a resolution nonrenewing four Tier 1 teachers — Tammy Dandurand, Krystle Enninga, Paige Lehrkamp and Rory Shackelford — on a unanimous roll-call vote. Separately, the board adopted a resolution nonrenewing teacher Katherine Zempel; that vote carried with board member Matt Zempel recorded as abstaining. Earlier in the meeting the board accepted resignations from Danielle Bailey, MS/HS paraprofessional, and Felixa Amato, MS/HS math teacher, and approved multiple long-term substitute hires and the appointment of a Community Cultural Liaison.

The motions and roll-call outcomes were recorded in the meeting minutes. The board did not specify further implementation dates or immediate personnel actions in the minutes beyond the resolutions and approvals; next steps were left to administration to develop the recommended reductions and rationale for board consideration.
