The committee agreed to call for bids on the Lower Meeks Bay PRV project (Resolution 24-30), a plan to connect a long dead-end on Meeks Bay Avenue and create a loop to improve fire suppression capacity.
Will Stelter, senior civil engineer, told the committee the project would connect the north end of the existing dead-end and loop the system across the highway; he said the engineer's estimate is just under $800,000 and that the district has a $200,000 grant to apply. He added that the project will make use of an existing casing installed by the district in 2014, which simplifies crossing under the highway.
Staff recommended proceeding to bid in October and returning with an award recommendation at the November regular board meeting.
