Director: CES95 community schools advisory groups will deliver recommendations by May

Brooke Kensler, Director of Special Education, told the board the district's Community Schools effort launched with a successful January kickoff and that advisory groups focused on health, food, housing, adult and family education, and out-of-school time are meeting to align services and identify family needs.
Kensler said the advisory meetings have helped the district learn more about existing local resources and improved interagency connections. "The goal is by May to have recommendations for services and supports from each of our 5 advisory groups that will guide the development and program building for the resource centers," she said. The board was told school-based councils will gather family perspectives and feed those findings back to the advisory groups for program adjustments and recommendations.
The update frames next steps for the district’s resource centers and outlines a timeline for administrative recommendations ahead of summer planning.
