Board member/staff Beth told the Stanfield SD 61 Board that the state has asked districts to prepare for a 5% budget reduction in upcoming planning.
"The state is asking everybody to prepare a budget reduction of 5% because they are preparing to reduce the state's budget by 5%," Beth said, advising the board to plan mindful spending aligned with district priorities.
Beth also addressed state reporting: she said the district met Division 22 standards and has board policies in place to demonstrate compliance. However, she explained the public state summary for the 2024–25 year will temporarily show a red box for the 9th-grade on-track measure because the district missed a deadline to submit a correction while waiting on a transcript from another district. "So we actually did meet our target. It just isn't gonna get published that way," she said.
Beth urged measured planning and said the district will continue to monitor revenue forecasts and adjust spending priorities; she told the board the district will upload required documentation once draft minutes are produced and correct the published record where possible.
