At the Oct. 1 board meeting, citizen Lauren Sands told the board she was concerned about earlier start times for elementary students. Her comment was recorded under Citizens Request of the Board with no extended back-and-forth recorded in the minutes.
Superintendent Bare provided an update on the schedule change, stating that "we are now five weeks into the new schedule, and I am pleased to share that students are settling in very well." She told the board staff report improved morning energy and class engagement at middle and high school sites and said the district is reviewing whether a $70 after-school fee could be a barrier for some families. Board member Jeff Johnson invited community members to contact him directly and said the board will continue monitoring attendance and engagement data.
