District describes Connex emergency boxes, supplies and Starlink capability

District staff described three climate-controlled Connex emergency containers stocked with food, potable-water capability, generators and a Starlink communications option; Pacific Power enabled power and contractors will finalize security and comms this week.
Jason (speaker 10) briefed the board on three Connex containers sited on the hill as part of a resilience partnership with the city of Seaside. He said the boxes are climate-controlled, include generators, porta-potties, handwashing stations, cisterns for water capture and a plan to stock MREs and water supplies for initial response.
"We have, 3 Connex boxes that, through Grama and Sandy, wrote last year," Jason said, describing partnerships that prepared the district to meet initial needs in a disaster. He said Pacific Power has brought power to the boxes and that contractors will be on site to complete the Starlink communications and security hookups. He also said the district will catalogue MRE expiration dates and rotate supplies with local food banks when replacement is required.
Board members asked about MRE shelf life and waste-prevention plans; administrators said they will catalog expiration dates and rotate supplies to the food bank when appropriate. Jason said the boxes are intended as an early response resource until county, state or federal assistance is available.
