Board confirms equity advisory committee work and approves small revisions to equity lens
Summary

Superintendent (Susan) reminded the board that Senate Bill 7 32 requires every district in Oregon to create a district equity advisory committee. She said the district had invited members and currently has two students, five parents and eight staff on the advisory committee and that the group held its first meeting earlier this month.

Later in the meeting the board considered a recommended revision to the district equity lens that removed explicit references to “racial and ethnic groups” in one item and made minor wording fixes. After brief discussion a motion to approve the revised district equity lens was moved and seconded; the measure carried by voice vote. Board members asked the superintendent to continue recruiting student representation and to develop a companion equity lens for instructional lesson planning.
