Rush City board adopts multiple policy revisions affecting student safety, curriculum and technology

The board approved a package of policy updates on June 18, including revisions to Family and Medical Leave, Bullying Prohibition, Title IX, Internet Acceptable Use, Crisis Management and other curriculum- and accountability-related policies.
At its June 18 meeting the Independent School District #139 board voted 5-0 to adopt a suite of policy updates brought for second reading.
Policies approved included Policy 104 (School District Mission Statement), revisions to 410 (Family and Medical Leave), 514 (Bullying Prohibition Policy), 522 (Title IX), 524 (Internet Acceptable Use and Safety Policy), and 806 (Crisis Management Policy), among others. The motion to approve the policies was made by Rory Roth and seconded by Kevin Haugrud.
The minutes list numerous additional policy items under review related to curriculum and accountability (policies 601, 603, 606, 612.1, 614, 616, 620, 906), but the recorded action on June 18 was the approval of the listed second-reading items. The minutes also print the district mission: "THE PROMISE OF RUSH CITY SCHOOLS IS TO CREATE GLOBAL CITIZENS WHO ARE LIFELONG LEARNERS."
