During the Aug. 3 meeting the mayor informed the council and public that two cemetery board of trustees terms (Carrie Lane and Lynn Keek) will expire on Aug. 11 and that Moni Westling's term on the airport zoning board adjustment expired Aug. 1.
The mayor noted that cemetery board terms are six years and the airport zoning board adjustment terms are five years and that these are council appointments. No nominations or appointments were made at the meeting; the notices served as the council’s first public notification of the upcoming vacancies.
Why it matters: council appointments to boards and commissions affect local governance and oversight of municipal services such as cemetery maintenance and airport zoning.
