Mayor Victoria Marincin told the council she and city staff—including the city attorney and engineer—met with representatives from Benaroya and that the city has scheduled two meetings with the State Auditor: one with staff and a second involving the full council. As part of the audit preparations she said she has instituted a two-week discretionary spending freeze to allow review of internal processes.
"In preparation for the audit, Mayor Marincin implemented a two-week discretionary spending freeze," the minutes record. Marincin said she will work with staff to ensure adequate procedures are in place; no budget reductions or specific account freezes beyond the discretionary pause were recorded in the minutes.
