Council tables Southeast First Street stormwater drain repairs pending easement and engineer review

Community Development Director Robert Webster said an older stormwater drain between 1002 and 1006 Southeast First Street is not functioning as intended and floods during significant rainfall. He said the city does not own the land where the drain sits and does not hold an easement, complicating immediate repairs.
City Attorney Jim Buzzard advised the city should request an easement before undertaking repairs. Councilman Jeramy Allman moved to table the matter for engineer review and further information; Councilman Jess Bowers seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
