Council tables downtown flag-extension proposal after safety, congestion concerns

Council members expressed concerns about downtown congestion and the risk of flags leaning into roadways and damaging parked vehicles; City Attorney Jim Buzzard suggested business-mounted holders or, if the city proceeds with sidewalk-mounted poles, providing a schematic to the city’s insurance carrier for risk assessment. Councilman Jeramy Allman moved to table the item until the next council meeting; Councilwoman Jodie Curtis seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
