Three new Silver Falls board members sworn in before OSBA governance training

The Silver Falls School District board opened its July workshop by administering the oath of office to three newly appointed members. Daniel Cote, Sarah Deliskey and Walter Lerman each recited the standard oath and were welcomed to the board before the district’s scheduled training session.
The swearing-in occurred at the start of the meeting, after board leadership noted that one named member was initially out of the room but expected to arrive. “I, Daniel M. Cote, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of The United States, the Constitution of the State of Oregon, and the laws thereof,” Cote read as part of his oath. Sarah Deliskey and Wally Lerman repeated the oath before the meeting moved to an agenda vote and the training program.
The introductions continued with each new and returning member briefly describing personal background and why they joined the board. The sequence of oaths and the brief personal statements were used by the Oregon School Boards Association (OSBA) facilitator to set the workshop’s tone around roles, responsibilities and the board’s shared "why."
