Parents challenge high-school library book; district moves to review materials policy

He recommended a policy-committee deep dive and development of clearer reconsideration procedures that could include a reconsideration committee and explicit criteria for librarians to consult subject-matter expertise.
Board members discussed balancing legal risk, community expectations and the practical need to update required policies first. The board directed staff to prioritize required policies and to present detailed recommendations through the policy committee, with public updates to follow.
