"We asked you to be a balm to soothe the district, and I think that you've acted in that way," Board member S11 said during the discussion. The board also adopted Kellison's annual performance evaluation as presented earlier in the meeting.
After the appointment, the board authorized two negotiators, Derek and Phil, to work with Kellison and legal counsel to draft a permanent contract for the board's ratification at a public meeting prior to the July 1 effective date. The motion directing Derek and Phil to negotiate the contract passed on a separate voice vote. Board members said they will seek comparators and consult ESD attorneys to inform terms and compensation.
The board's actions came after public comments supporting Kellison and a presentation summarizing her evaluation, which rated her highly on the district's prioritized standards, including fiscal and organizational management.
