Chamber and county outreach underway after Point Roberts signage complaints

PRCAC members discussed repeated resident complaints about commercial signs that appear to replicate overnight or fail to follow county rules. Allison said she and Anelle visited several businesses to explain the regulations and distribute copies; she also said residents filed citizen violation reports with Whatcom County earlier in February and that county code enforcement is scheduled to visit Point Roberts.
Linda, speaking for the Chamber of Commerce, confirmed the Chamber circulated a letter encouraging members to comply with existing regulations and said the Chamber will send the notice to its membership lists. Allison said the committee prefers voluntary compliance and neighborly outreach "rather than placing my apologies" and that early outreach was the preferred approach.
Members asked that any outreach also remind businesses about trees and vegetation in public rights of way (Tyee) and about appropriate trimming. No formal enforcement action or vote occurred; PRCAC and the Chamber will continue outreach and monitor county code-enforcement follow-up.
