Board Chair Elizabeth Reeser read Childress’s resignation letter aloud; Mrs. Harrington moved to accept the resignation and Mrs. Allison seconded. The minutes record the motion passed 4-0.
Following acceptance, Superintendent Krista Nieraeth outlined options for filling the vacancy and proposed accepting applications through Jan. 29, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. and choosing a candidate at the Feb. 11, 2026 meeting. Mr. Anderson suggested Jan. 31 as an alternate cutoff date. Mrs. Follis agreed to publicize the vacancy on the district website, readerboard, Canyon Weekly and radio. The board voted to declare the vacancy (motion passed 4-0).
The board discussed that candidate interviews may be held in public session or the board may select a candidate from applications, but the transcript notes that any selection must occur in a public meeting. No appointment was made at the Dec. 16 meeting.
