Pendleton board concludes 2025–26 evaluation of Superintendent Jensen, flags goals for 2026–27

"The Board of Directors of the Pendleton School District 16R has completed an annual evaluation of Superintendent Dr. Michelle Jensen for 2025-2026," Harrison stated, and the board found Jensen's performance to be either "Effective or Developing" across eight professional standards.
The board identified Jensen's strengths in communications and community relations, effective organizational management, and ethics and professional norms, while rating the remaining professional standards as Developing or Not Enough Information given Jensen is in her first year as superintendent. On the four Superintendent/Board goals, the board rated Jensen as Developing in all four and emphasized focusing on Goal 2 action items for the remainder of the school year. Harrison said the board will work with Dr. Jensen over the next few months to develop goals for 2026–27 aligned with the district strategic plan.
The discussion recorded in the work session did not include a formal vote or numeric performance score in the minutes. Board members and district staff present included Ryan Lehnert, Jill Pace, Ryan DeGrofft, Mason Murphy (virtual), Anne Keeler, Patrick Gregg, Michelle Jones (Director of Business Services), Matt Yoshioka (Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment), Kevin Dinning (Director of Human Resources), and Ronda Thornburg (Executive Secretary). The board intends to finalize and adopt formal goals in June during a facilitated session.
