The Verona Planning Commission on Aug. 3 recommended the Common Council approve a conditional use permit for an indoor fitness and entertainment facility at 1162 Laser Street.
Planning staff presented the application and recommended approval with conditions. Planner Severson said the applicant proposes "an 11,922 square foot indoor pickleball facility, within a 26,000 square foot building," with five courts available by reservation, two to four employees for cleaning and management, and an expected 10 to 20 occupants during typical operations. Staff recommended the tenants at 1162 Laser enter a shared-parking agreement as a condition of approval.
Commissioners opened a public hearing but no members of the public spoke. Commissioner Wood moved the recommendation and Alderson seconded; the body approved the recommendation by voice vote. The motion asks the Common Council to grant the conditional use permit with the conditions specified in the packet, including the shared parking agreement.
The commission's recommendation advances the matter to the Common Council, which will consider the CUP and the prescribed conditions. If approved by the council, the operator will still need to meet any site-plan and building-permit requirements before opening.
