Superintendent outlines strategic plan progress, student‑led conferences and campus safety upgrades

Superintendent Bare told the board on Dec. 17 that leadership teams attended a conference in Portland to advance Professional Learning Communities work and that the district will host the content locally for licensed staff on Jan. 5, 2026. She described changes to student conferences—now a more student‑focused format for K–8 with positive feedback from parents—and said the format will be used at the high school in spring.
On safety, Bare said remote entry systems are installed at all schools and allow staff to view visitors before admitting them; visitor management hardware is nearly installed and expected to be operational after winter break. She also said the fencing along I‑5 and Chadwick Lane at the high school is almost complete.
Bare reviewed the final summary of the district values (Curiosity, Belonging, Perseverance, Integrity) and said she has visited every school and held student advisory council meetings to collect ideas that staff will use to shape future actions.
