District plans to self-operate food service; staff preparing for July transition from Sodexo

Hansen described a phased handoff: starting with Sodexo-run meals in June to ensure continuity for the summer program, then moving to district operations on July 1. She said the district is working with external advisers (including a nutrition specialist from the regional service) and is pursuing grants. Board members acknowledged the complexity and thanked staff for engaging school-based food staff; administrators said classified staff input and student feedback will be incorporated as the program transitions.
Staff clarified the district intends to continue the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) summer model and emphasized the goal of a smooth operational handoff while acknowledging potential short-term challenges during implementation.
