A staff member presented the first reading of an ordinance to regulate qualified resort properties inside Oktibbeha County. The proposed ordinance would restrict alcohol sales between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., require 25% of revenue to come from food sales for properties seeking to remain open during restricted hours, and include enhanced public-safety and security standards, the staff member said.
Staff described the formal adoption timeline: the ordinance will be published in the newspaper for two consecutive weeks, with a second reading and public hearing scheduled for Aug. 17. If passed on the 17th, the ordinance would become effective 30 days later, around Sept. 17. Board members indicated they could revisit details after public input and staff review.
