District launches Hazel Health mental‑health teletherapy pilot and expands device-pouch trials

Student services staff told the board the district will launch a virtual mental‑health partnership with Hazel Health beginning March 17 at a set of pilot schools including Harnett Central Middle School, Star Academy, Highland Middle and Harnett County Early College. The program will offer teletherapy to students and families during extended hours (7 a.m.–7 p.m.) and is intended to expand if pilots prove successful.
Assistant superintendent White also reported positive early outcomes from a pilot distributing mobile-device pouches at Western Harnett High, Star and Highland Middle School, saying principals reported decreased distractions and fewer discipline referrals. Staff said principals will present data to the board before any districtwide rollout is considered.
White said the district will pilot a digital hall pass and attendance-management program (SchoolStatus) at selected primary schools to improve attendance workflows and letter distribution.
