Sweetwater ISD board adopts 2026–27 academic calendar

The Sweetwater Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to adopt the 2026–27 academic calendar on Feb. 11, 2026. Trustee Dennis Cumbie moved to accept the calendar as presented and Trustee Brenda Valdez seconded; the motion passed 6–0.
School administrators Carmen Crane and Coach Hodnett said they revised the fall break to shorten it and align the district’s dates with the football open week. The trustees listed as voting in favor were Jeff Allen, Dennis Cumbie, Mark Garcia, Kelly Sheridan, Tasha Soto and Brenda Valdez. The board did not record any votes against or abstentions.
