River district says small reimbursements, more projects queued for Oktibbeha County

Drew Robertson, executive director of the Tom Bisbee River Valley Water Management District, briefed the board on district activities and funding opportunities. Robertson said the district has a reimbursement program for property owners who eradicate problematic hogs and similar issues: "if you eradicate or take care of any of those issues, if you give us a receipt, then we can reimburse up to 10,000." He also described an approved-project pipeline worth roughly a quarter-million dollars and a five-year trend of increasing funds flowing to projects.
Robertson highlighted the district's operational model and urged a more collaborative, countywide approach to moving water and scheduling maintenance. He described efforts to move the district from analog records into a GIS platform so supervisors and staff can see project easements and the real-time status of work, and offered district staff support for county planning and prioritization.
