Richardson ISD Foundation reports $8.4M invested and more than $118,000 raised for backpacks

The Richardson ISD Foundation provided its annual report to the board, highlighting financial support and programmatic investments for the district.
Kamika Crawford, foundation president, said the foundation invested more than $8.4 million in the district over the foundation's history and listed FY2023-24 results: in the last fiscal year the foundation directed more than $175,000 toward AVID, CTE, literacy and STEM initiatives, raised more than $118,000 to supply over 7,000 backpacks and school-supply kits, and awarded scholarships and staff grants including Launchpad Awards that gave $1,000 to 10 staff members. "We were also able to help fund some STEM activities and sponsor paid summer research experiences for students," Crawford said, describing partnerships with the University of Texas at Dallas and other donors.
Crawford outlined priorities for the coming year: a refreshed foundation website and blog to tell impact stories; relaunching impact grants and staff awards; expansion of the GEMS monthly giving program (100% of GEMS funds are dedicated to impact grants); and several fundraising events. Trustees thanked the foundation leadership for its sustained support and outreach.
