Tom Bean ISD renews two principal contracts and approves substitute hire after executive session
Summary
After an executive session on personnel, the board reconvened Feb. 9 and unanimously approved hiring Evan Kauper as a substitute teacher and renewed two administrator contracts: Lance Cherry (middle school) and Charles Nash (high school), each on two-year terms beginning July 1, 2026.
The board entered executive session at 8:12 p.m. under Texas Government Code Section 551.074 to discuss the employment of individual teachers and reconvened in open session at 9:53 p.m.
Following the closed session, the board approved the appointment of Evan Kauper as a substitute teacher (motion by Steve Rogers, seconded by Shawna Merriman). The board also renewed administrator contracts: Lance Cherry was approved for renewal on a two-year term beginning July 1, 2026 (motion by Steve Rogers), and Charles Nash was approved for renewal on a two-year term beginning July 1, 2026 (motion by Beth Hale). All personnel actions recorded in the minutes passed unanimously 7–0.
