"We get 8 of those bags packed per event, which is about each bag typically averages out to about 22 pounds," the chair (S1) said, and noted that monthly shipments fill a 40-foot trailer that is sent to a processing facility in Kent for reprocessing.
Officials said the program diverts approximately 450–500 pounds of styrofoam per event and that 100% of the collected material is reprocessed at the Kent facility. The council described the logistics (drop-off times, compaction, annual or monthly shipment cadence) and plans to continue community recycling events.
