Jefferson PUD briefs council on transformer moves, online rate study and Saturday preparedness event

Jason Hahn, representing Jefferson PUD, told the council the utility is pursuing federal funding opportunities and working through a cost-of-service and rate study; presentations and the supporting PowerPoint are posted on the utility’s website for public review. "My name is Jason Hahn, Jefferson PUD. I'm here to give you an update," he said, and encouraged residents to watch the hybrid study meetings online.
Hahn described a public emergency-preparedness event scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m., which will include generator-safety demonstrations, solar and battery-backup information, an emergency-management booth and a transformer demo trailer. He also described a coordinated equipment plan to increase capacity across the district: "We're putting in a 20 megawatt transformer, into the enclosed sub, taking the 6 megawatt transformer, moving that to Discover Bay," and moving an oversized transformer to Hastings and Port Townsend as part of an orchestrated series of moves designed to relieve winter-peak constraints and support future South County development.
