Residents urge that Northwest CRA funds remain in the district as Habitat project moves forward

Jocelyn Jackson addressed the commission during the public hearing and expressed concern that Northwest CRA (TIF) funds be used within Northwest neighborhoods rather than reallocated to other areas. "We need all our coins. Northwest area, we need all our coins," Jackson said, referencing the Habitat for Humanity project and asking that funds remain targeted to the district.
Mayor Harden and Vice mayor Fournier responded that the Northwest CRA covers parts of multiple districts and that staff had indicated the cited project and related funding considerations. Staff previously noted funding for a Habitat for Humanity design, permitting and construction reimbursement up to $300,000 would be split between General Capital Fund and utilities; commission discussion confirmed no CRA funds were being spent outside CRA boundaries tonight.
