County clerk warns of possible polling closures amid shortage of election judges

County Clerk Linda S. Qualls informed the Moultrie County Board that her office had sent letters recruiting election judges but had received very few replies. Qualls warned the board that if they do not recruit more judges, "they will then work November 3, 2026, election. Qualls is worried we will not have enough election judges and may have to start shutting down polling locations and have voting here in the courthouse." She urged board members to refer potential election judges to the clerk's office and noted a training session is scheduled for October 27, 2026.
Qualls said the clerk's office needs additional volunteers to avoid reducing the number of polling places. The board took no formal vote but the clerk's request functions as an operational call to action ahead of the November general election.
