During board comments, Josh Roe reported that Illinois Transportation Services told the county Shelby County can no longer be the recipient of funds for regional transport services because of issues tied to Shelby County's 2023 audit. Effingham County has voted in committee to assume responsibility for the affected counties; if the Effingham County board approves, Moultrie County expects a new agreement in June to preserve transportation service for county residents.
Roe said the ITS staff member who previously answered the county's questions was no longer employed; he urged the board to watch for the June agreement and noted the change follows audit findings in Shelby County.
