The Mayor and Council of the Borough of North Caldwell unanimously approved the employment of Ikmet Shej as a probationary patrol officer, and Mayor Joshua H. Raymond administered the Oath of Office during the Feb. 10 conference meeting.
Councilman Kenneth Tilton moved to approve Resolution R-41-2026 authorizing the hire; the motion, seconded by Councilman Arthur Rees, passed with six affirmative votes. Mayor Raymond also announced the retirement of Officer Connie Schlette, thanking her “for her dedication to the Borough” and wishing her well in retirement.
The actions were taken as part of the regular conference meeting business. No salary figures for Officer Shej were stated in the meeting minutes; a reporter present requested salary information during public comment. The governing body did not hold an executive session at this meeting and gave no additional personnel details on the record.
The hire of a probationary patrol officer and the retirement recognition will be reflected in the department’s staffing roster and personnel files handled by the Borough administration.
