The Troup Independent School District announced during its Feb. 9 meeting that it was awarded a three-year LIFT grant totaling $400,000 to support curriculum implementation across the district. Superintendent Jones told the board the funds will be used to implement curriculum and that the district has also applied with the Special Ed Co-Op and Whitehouse ISD for an autism grant to provide sensory stations in four special education classrooms.
Superintendent Jones also said the district will monitor the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (vouchers) process and noted timing concerns for special education eligibility testing tied to parent applications. The board recorded the grant announcement as part of routine superintendent discussion items during the meeting.
