The Tom Bean Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved a comprehensive package of personnel actions on April 13, moving several motions to rehire existing teachers and to hire new staff for the 2026–2027 school year.
Board members approved substitute teacher appointments for Jan Crow and Sonia Burgos and carried a sequence of motions to rehire recommended teachers in elementary, middle and high schools on either term or probationary contracts. The board also approved dual-assignment contracts for staff with athletic responsibilities and rehired nurse Chelsea Delacruz on a probationary contract. "Motion made by Scott Renfro that Jan Crow and Sonia Burgos be approved as substitute teachers as recommended by the Superintendent," the minutes state.
New hires approved included Samantha Skiles, Meredith Kays and Jennifer Wofford on probationary teacher contracts and Melissa Gilbert on a probationary counselor contract for the coming school year. The hiring motion for Lindsey Hughey as a dual-assignment probationary hire at the high school was also approved. All personnel motions recorded unanimous outcomes: 7 in favor, 0 opposed.
Board President James Hamilton and other trustees did not attach special conditions to the hires during the meeting; the approved motions were recorded with maker/second and the vote tallies in the official minutes.
