Valley Mills ISD board approves district-wide facility assessment in 6–1 vote

The Valley Mills Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to conduct a district-wide facility assessment and to hire Claycomb Associates, Architects, to perform the study.
Jim Blackford moved to approve the assessment and to contract with Claycomb Associates; Steven Owens seconded the motion. The motion carried 6–1, with Trustee Douglas Shanafelt recorded as the sole Nay. Mr. Dowdy had presented three options for the assessment prior to the vote.
Board members said the assessment will help identify capital needs across campuses and inform future budgeting and planning. The board did not set a public timeline for the assessment in the meeting minutes.
