The Tuloso-Midway Independent School District on May 11 declared that Proposition A, a $136,000,000 bond measure to fund school facilities projects, purchase new buses and retrofit older buses with seatbelts, carried in the May 2 election. The official canvass materials attached to the board’s order show 470 votes in favor and 110 against, from a total of 580 votes cast for that proposition.
The canvass order reproduces the ballot wording, which labels the measure as a property tax increase and describes the intended uses: "the Issuance of bonds in the amount of $136,000,000 for school facilities, new buses, and retrofitting older buses with seatbelts." The board’s resolution states that a majority of qualified voters voted for the measure and authorizes the district to proceed in accordance with applicable law.
Board action on May 11 was limited to canvassing and certifying results; no further votes on bond issuance or tax-rate adjustment occurred at the special meeting. Next steps for the district will follow statutory procedures for bond issuance now that voter authorization has been declared.
